Frequently asked questions
How do I get started?
Download Kovered from the App Store, sign up with your email, and post your first task. You'll get a one-time code by email to sign in — no password to remember.
How does payment work?
When you fund a task, your payment is held safely by Kovered. The helper receives the funds only after you approve the completed work — or automatically three days after they submit proof if you don't respond. Payments are processed by Stripe.
How do I delete my account or my data?
In the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, chat history, and personal data within 30 days. Some transaction records are retained for tax and legal compliance, in anonymized form.
Can't find the option, or want us to handle it for you? Email privacy@trykovered.com from the address on your account and we'll process the request within 30 days.
How do helpers get paid?
Helpers connect a bank account through Stripe during a one-time setup. After a task is approved, your earnings land in your Stripe balance and pay out to your bank automatically every week, on Mondays. Need it sooner? You can cash out instantly anytime for a small fee. (Your very first payout may take a few extra days — a standard one-time Stripe hold.) You can see all transfers in the Earnings tab of your profile.
How does Kovered's fee work?
Kovered charges a 10% service fee on each side of a task:
- Askers see a "Kovered fee (10%)" line on the funding screen, added on top of the task budget. A $100 task costs you $110 total — no other surcharges.
- Helpers have a 10% service fee deducted from their payout when a task is completed. A $100 task pays $90 to the helper.
That 10/10 split funds the platform — holding payments safely, fraud protection, dispute resolution, and Stripe's payment processing fees (which come out of our share, never added on top of what the asker pays). It's how we keep the marketplace free for helpers to apply to tasks and free for askers to post.
What if a task goes wrong?
Open the task in the app and tap Open a dispute. Both sides can submit photos, videos, and a written explanation. Our team reviews and decides on a refund, partial refund, or payout. We aim to resolve most disputes within 3–5 business days.
What if I find damage after the task is done?
You have 60 days from task completion to report damage — twice as long as most marketplaces. Email hello@trykovered.com with the task name, photos, and a brief description of what was damaged. We'll review and respond, typically within a few business days.
How much does it cost helpers to apply to tasks?
Nothing. Kovered will never charge helpers to see jobs or send applications. No pay-per-lead, no subscriptions, no credits to buy. When a helper completes a task, Kovered deducts a 10% service fee from the payout before sending the rest via Stripe — helpers never pay out of pocket. We think pay-per-lead is the worst thing in this category and we built Kovered to avoid it.
How is cancellation handled — for both sides?
Each side gets 1 free cancellation per month — independent allowances for asker-side and helper-side, resetting on the 1st (Pacific Time). After that, askers pay a 20% kill fee to the helper, and helpers pay a 15% kill fee to the asker. Either way, the canceler earns a strike on their account. Repeated strikes lead to a temporary suspension, and eventually a permanent ban — for either role.
How do I report someone or block them?
Tap the ⋯ menu on any chat, task, or profile and choose Report or Block. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. Blocking immediately hides all of that user's messages, tasks, and profile from your view and prevents them from contacting you again.
What is identity verification?
Helpers complete identity verification through Stripe Identity before they can accept tasks. This confirms they're a real person and helps keep the marketplace safe. Askers don't need to verify, though verification gives your tasks a verified badge that helpers tend to trust more.
What kinds of tasks are allowed?
Everyday help that a real person can do locally — errands, moving, cleaning, assembly, tutoring, pet care, tech help, yard work, and similar. Tasks involving illegal activity, weapons, drugs, sexual services, or anything that requires a professional license we don't verify (like medical or legal advice) aren't allowed. See the Terms of Service for the full list.
Is there a fee for tipping?
No Kovered fee on tips — helpers receive 100% of what you tip. The exact tip amount you'll be charged is shown in the app before you confirm. Stripe's standard processing fees come out of Kovered's share, not the helper's.
Where is Kovered available?
We're launching in the United States first, starting in California. Availability in other states will roll out as we scale.
How old do I have to be?
You must be at least 18 years old to use Kovered, whether you're posting tasks or helping with them.
